What Bugs you Most About your Generation? What do you Like Most About your Generation?
Before I basically repeat all the points I made in this post, as I still believe this are all essentially valid and true, I want to also say that from what I’ve learned, a generation is separated by 25 years. What bugs me the most about the generation I’m a part of is how much we don’t give a fuck about things we should actually be giving two fucks about (it also pisses me off how many kids have to advertise how much they don’t give a fuck for that matter). Generally speaking, we’re decadent, wasteful beings who only care about the next time we’re going to get lifted, drunk, or any other manner of way of leaving the reality of the world we’re murdering. The advent of the first world problem meme, hilarious as they may be, illustrates a lot of what I’m talking about perfectly as well. We complain about the smallest problems as though they were life-or-death calamities, and we’re so over dramatic, with attention spans the size of graham crackers. Short term thinkers, oblivious to long term consequences.
As a whole, I’d like to think of generation as a lot more accepting of those who are different of them. For example, at least speaking from my own personal experience, I only felt abrasion towards my sexuality when I was in the closet. The minute I owned up to it and came out, I didn’t encounter many confrontations over it. Although, a lot of our generation are very confrontational regardless, so maybe not the best example. I don’t know, I suppose what counts is finding those people in this generation who are exceptions to the stereotypes we’ve wrought. They are out there, but unfortunately far and few in-between. But those are the gems of our generation.
