What do you Think our Planet Would Look Like in 10 Years? How About 20 Years?
I recently wrote a rather lengthy, thorough blog about my concerns for the planet, one that was probably fed by the phobia of the apparent doomsday to strike at the end of the year. Although I still vehemently believe nothing is going to happen (though I would be lying if I didn’t say I was a bit nervous about it), come 10 years, it’ll be as though we went through some apocalyptic change. And if not in 10 years, definitely in 20, as there have been studies that have clearly stated that if nothing significantly changes between now and 20 years from now, our hottest days in summer now will be our coldest day in summer in the future (so, say 100 degree was a record high for heat in a certain city. 20 years from now, 100 degrees will be considered low in terms of how hot it will get).
Outside of the weather predictions, I feel like the further down we go into the future, the less of nature we will see, as everything will just be swallowed up by our needless expansion of cold houses and countless business enterprises. I wish we would remember where we came from, and how much we need to respect that. We are, after all, merely animals. Our limbic systems are as geared up towards self-preservation as they were when we first crawled out of the mud of this planet. But like I said, it will take some apocalyptic event for us to change. Unfortunate, but true.
